X is a 2006 Indian drama film by director Rajkumar Hirani. It was produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and its screenplay was written by Abhijat Joshi and Kumar Biswas. X stars Sanjay Dutt, Sushant Singh Rajput, Vidya Balan and Boman Irani.This movie is the third installment in what media outlets consider "the Rajkumar Hirani trilogy". The first two films in the series are both Academy Award-nominated animated features: Lage Raho Munnabhai (2006), a comedy about Gandhi's life; and 3 Idiots (2009), which concerns three friends who want to get into medical school. The film was released on 13 October 2006, with critics highly praising many aspects of the film, especially the performances by Rajput and Dutt. Hirani stated that he considered this to be his third and final installment of the Munnabhai series. Vidhu Vinod Chopra later released a second sequel, titled 3 Idiots (2009)Sanjay Mishra is an aspiring scriptwriter who works as an assistant director for filmmaker Raman Patel (Boman Irani). Sanjay is frustrated due to his financial problems, which are exacerbated when Raman refuses to pay him his dues. His wife Anjali (Vidya Balan) also leaves him due to his lack of success. Sanjay is determined to make it big in time for his daughter's "quinceañera". He later learns that Raman stole his script and left him nothing in his will. Soon, however, Raman faces difficulties with funding. He is given three days to get the funds or the film will be shut down. It turns out that Raman's friend, noted stage actor Kabir Khan (Sanjay Dutt), who he conned into playing the lead role in the film for free, has been fired from the movie. In desperation, he hires Sanjay as a last minute replacement to play Kabir's role as a young man named Govind Deshpande. Govind's wife Shobha (Bipasha Basu) is so impressed with his performance that she runs off with him. Next, Sanjay is offered the role of Shobha's husband, but he turns it down so he can complete his unfinished script. This leads to the completion of the film. The film ends with Sanjay finally getting paid by Raman after he dies in an accident on the sets of the final scene.

The soundtrack of the film was composed by A. R. Rahman and lyrics were written by Sameer. This is his second collaboration with Hirani, with whom he had previously scored the music for "Amar Akbar Jat" (2004). The soundtrack album consists of six songs:
